MicroStrategy Integrity Manager Product Features

Detect, Compare, and Highlight Variances in Data, Reports, and Dashboards Caused by Any Changes in the BI Ecosystem

MicroStrategy Integrity Manager executes and analyzes BI output to highlight unmatched results in data, SQL, graph, Excel, and PDF output. It can test any and all reports, documents, intelligent cubes, and data mart reports or a subset. These objects are included through individual selection, folder selection, referenced through shortcuts, or dynamically selected at runtime using sophisticated object searches.

Automate Testing for Any or All Reports and Documents

MicroStrategy Integrity Manager provides administrators with automated report and document comparison and change analysis. It runs thousands of reports and documents to verify change success and highlights only the small percentage of reports that need additional analysis and clarification. This alleviates the previously limiting and labor intensive manual comparison of key reports to verify software upgrade, object migration, or BI system change success.

Identify Any Differences in Reports, Documents, Intelligent Cubes, and Data Mart Reports

Integrity Manager allows easy analysis of exceptions within each object’s results as any and all differences are explicitly highlighted. The analysis and comparison results are intuitively displayed for administrators and developers on an object-by-object basis. These differences are identified clause-by-clause in the SQL output, at the cell-level in the data output, and grouped in the graph, Excel and PDF output.

Compare Test Results Between Live BI Applications and/or Previously Stored "Baselines"

Administrators can configure MicroStrategy Integrity Manager tests to compare reports between a live MicroStrategy project directly against another live MicroStrategy project (e.g. Development against Production). During each MicroStrategy Integrity Manager test, results are stored for future analysis and as an output “baseline”. Administrators can additionally compare a live MicroStrategy project against a previously-stored baseline, or even two previously-stored baselines to complete exception analysis against historical snapshots, or offline/off-network systems.

Distribute Results to Any Number of Users, Developers, or Administrators

Every MicroStrategy Integrity Manager test generates an interactive HTML exception document summarizing all test configuration selections and execution statistics, summary, and details. The detailed execution results within the HTML output also include links to individual report and document test output (SQL, data, graph, Excel, PDF), enabling users and developers to analyze MicroStrategy Integrity Manager test results.

Include Multiple Types of Objects for Comprehensive Project-Wide Testing

The intuitive test creation wizard helps generate powerful tests using any of the BI application objects below. These tests can include individually selected reports, documents, intelligent cubes, and data mart reports as well as all the supported objects within a selected folder, or all supported objects within a project.

Additionally, MicroStrategy Integrity Manager empowers users to include their critical reports for testing by placing shortcuts into folders that are tested regularly. This reduces the burden on IT administrators to determine which reports need to be tested while ensuring any essential reports are 100% accurate.

Create Dynamic Report Comparison Tests Using Searches

MicroStrategy Integrity Manager dynamically resolves objects included in the test (reports, documents, Intelligent Cubes, data mart reports) on-the-fly. When a search is selected, the list of objects returned by that search are determined at runtime and included in the test. Searches included in the test provide flexible, unlimited dynamic object selection across the entire project.

For example, with the inclusion of searches, MicroStrategy Integrity Manager tests can dynamically include:

  • All reports and dashboards modified in the last specified number of days
  • All objects (reports, documents, Iintelligent Cubes, data mart reports) dependent on a recently changed enterprise object such as a modified metric
  • All reports and dashboards owned by executive users within the organization
  • All intelligent cubes modified in the last week

Generate Powerful, Dynamic Report Comparison Tests

The administrator has complete freedom to design tests that account for different change scenarios. Tests are intuitively created using the Test Creation Wizard. Administrators can quickly and easily create powerful MicroStrategy Integrity Manager tests connecting to baseline files and projects, selecting objects to be included in the test, specifying runtime execution settings, and configuring prompt resolution strategies to resolve prompts automatically or use manually-entered personal prompt answers.
